I began piano lessons when six years old and was classically trained. I passed various grades with distinction but in the mid fifties ‘rock and roll’ became the rage and I couldn’t help but spend a lot of time studying the music of Russ Conway, Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard and the like. I had many spotlights at school playing classical and popular pieces and took my first gigs in the mid sixties at local public houses playing piano but then began to look for better class venues that offered good grand pianos and took residencies at some of them. A friend of mine introduced me to ragtime piano particularly that of Scott Joplin and the listening public just loved this.

I decided to purchase a Hammond organ after listening to recordings by people like Harry Stoneham, Alan Haven and Jimmy Smith and quickly mastered the art of playing bass pedals. I began to look for musical work by approaching my local musicians pub and accepted an offer of resident weekend organist. This enabled me to provide backing for many other artists. This I managed to carry out despite a full time career as a computer programmer.

I formed a band that won local talent contests and then started to appear in cabaret all over the country including an appearance on Anglia Television. A chance meeting with a professional singing drummer with TV appearances to his credit led to me working as organist for over two years playing each weekend to a guaranteed full house.

I formed another trio and began working at social clubs up and down the country providing backing for many singers in cabaret as well as playing dance music at weddings and corporate functions.

I demonstrated my abilities at the local organ and keyboard club and was immediately booked to play a full concert. This led to numerous offers to play concerts at organ societies up and down the country and I still perform occasional concerts today.

I have recently continued to play at many other hotels and restaurants offering dinner jazz and light background music and am also an experienced resident organist at my local church.

If you really love the pure sound of Pipe organ and digital piano then you will really enjoy one of my performances.
